Installed a punched out stock H/D soft tail muffler on the savage yesterday. Sounds pretty good and looks a little better than the jardine. It's about 24 - 28 inches long and has a small fin on the top of the back end. Using the copper crush ring it went right on and sealed off great. It sounds a little deeper and louder than the Jardine. I tried it before I punched it out and it sounded exactly like the stock Savage muffler. That had to go. Though during the install I broke the muffler clamp so I can't go out and give it a good road test till I find a new one. One thing I found out about the Jardine when I removed it, It is rusted real bad on the underside. And it has only been on the bike for close to 3 years. The stock muffler was on for 13 years and had very little rust anywhere on it. I really didn't think chrome got any cheaper than Jap chrome.
